Hop Dover

Name

Hop Dover

Concept

Candle Construct

Power

Illuminate: By expending a fate point, Hop can hork up one of the candles that form in his gut occasionally. Unfortunately Hop's candles are designed to ignite immediately on coming into contact with fresh air. Hop must roll physical defense with a DC of 2 whenever he produces a candle or suffer a point of damage from it's flames. They do provide a superior light though, capable of dispelling even the most stubborn darkness, or shrouds. They also can dispel illusions, fogs, hazes, etc., magical or otherwise. While Hop's candles burns he, and anyone near the light it casts receives a passive +1 perception checks and mental defense checks, as the pervasive warmth and glow it casts bolsters confidence and clarity of thought.

Aspects

Pale As Wax: Hop is a being made entirely of stark white candle wax, molded to look like a person. Averse to fire and heat for obvious reasons .Prefers chilly environments.

Bright As A Flame: His hair is a mop of luminescent technicolor candle wicks, no one of which is quite the same shade. These wicks run through his body like veins, their glow visible through his near translucent body. Heavy clothing, or even colors dark enough to blot out his inner glow leave Hop dangerously warm. Due to his preferred type of clothing, Hop is often a source of illumination even without lighting a candle.

Untangling The Wicks: Hop is a steadfast, and cool-headed individual. Will not allow pressing circumstances to fluster or impede him from swiftly, and methodically untangling any conundrum he encounters. Difficult to overwhelm, or frighten. Fear or panic is a largely unfamiliar thing to Hop, and one he rarely encounters. Will meet most surprising occurrences with not alarm, but piqued interest.

A stark white cloak made of cloth that's slightly waxy in texture, which while terrible for keeping him warm, does a practically magical job of keeping him cool.

Personal History

Hop began life as the brain child of a brilliant candle maker, and the more enterprising type of mage. The pair were morally dubious, to say the least, and put their creation to work endlessly producing candles, not by way of coughing them up. That would be slow, and wasteful. No, they crafted, and trained their creation to be as dextrous and swift at his craft. Hop grew to be capable of working tirelessly, and at a speed which soon had his creator's recouping the investment bringing him into being had taken. Despite the monotony of sculpting wax, and threading wicks day after day, for years, Hop never complained, or even thought of doing so. He had a purpose, and was considered invaluable by his makers. Contentment filled every moment for him. Many more years passed, and the candle maker passed away of old age. Confusion. He became the mage's assistant, finding contentment once more. The mage passed away some many decades after. Hop was alone, but not without motive. Hop had received a paper from his last surviving owner before their death. It was a writ of ownership, signed by both his creators, and with a space for one other signature, left blank. A instructed, Hop quietly wrote out what he was told too. 'H-O-P…D-O-V-E-R'. At that moment, Hop's world opened up, beyond the narrowness of the old candle shop, past the hazy interior of the mage's study, beyond even the road he sometimes walked to fetch supplies, or groceries. After some minutes, he looked at the mage, on their death bed. And sat down. They discussed many things. Apologies were given. Thanks were given in return, eventually. The mage died, peacefully. Hop now wanders the Library most days, a place he and his mage visited together often, just looking for something to fill him with the contentment he's lost once more.

Miscellaneous

He's 6 feet tall. Exactly. And has the shape of an athletic adult male in their twenties.
